Meet the brewers, the dreamers, the creators, the gatherers, the teachers & the imbibers behind The Beer Yogis.
Yoga & Beer pioneers in their own communities, Melissa Klimo-Major and Mikki Trowbridge have been teaming up since 2015 to unite Beer Yogis across the country. They believe that two passionate, creative forces come together every time a yogi toasts a brew and they celebrate in the relationships being built in yoga & beer classes across the country. Melissa and Mikki are on a mission to share the benefits of yoga with every body and everybody through a yoga community in which everyone feels welcome.
MELISSA KLIMO-MAJOR, E-RYT 200
Melissa is on a mission to make the practice of yoga accessible to anyone. She creates a safe, grounded space in which to grow a strong breath & intention. Her flow sequences offer freedoms to explore in a practice that is welcome to brand new practitioners, seasoned yogis, and everyone in between. She is influenced by creativity, a value that drives her Balance & Brews events.
Melissa obtained a 300 hour yoga certification through Awaken Yoga School in 2012 and is currently working towards her 500 hour certification through the Yoga Medicine program. Her intention in teaching is to empower all to claim their freedom, peace, and personal power through practice.
Melissa finds her own inspiration in taking yoga into unique elements, allowing her passions to meet. A longtime craft beer enthusiast, Melissa spent her first years of teaching incorporating yoga & beer workshops into her studio schedule before founding Balance & Brews in 2014. Melissa has a wanderlust spirit, & enjoys exploring the globe with her husband, Sean. Her yoga travel resume includes yoga retreats in Costa Rica, and 'Balance on the Road' yoga and beer retreats with Balance & Brews.
MIKKI TROWBRIDGE, E-RYT 200, RYT 500
Mikki enjoys making hard things easy. Her classes are anatomically informed and soulfully inspired and promise to be fun, flowing and leave you feelin’ good. She aspires to infuse her passion for the practice, her love of music and genuine, life-inspired musings into each class. Her style creates a space for yogis to be challenged and to grow their practice, but also to find ease, confidence, laughter, yogi friends and bliss. And this style naturally led to her creation of Yoga + Beer events across Oregon in 2013.
Mikki obtained her 200 hour certification from YogaWorks and her 500 hour certification from YoYoYogi in Portland, Oregon. She is currently working towards additional 500 hour certifications with Tiffany Cruikshank and Annie Carpenter. Her home base is Salem, Oregon, where she teaches weekly Yoga + Beer events and studio classes.
Mikki is an equal opportunity beer lover - but has a soft spot for porters and fresh hop season in Oregon. In addition to her love of yoga and beer, she enjoys hiking, coffee, stand up paddle boarding, reading, exploring the beauty of Oregon, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends and Shiba Inu pup.
